Where can I get free makeup advice without having products pushed on me?

I'd like to get some makeup advice or a makeover to help me learn how to cover up my dark circles under my eyes, but don't want a sales pitch thrown at me. I've been to The Body Shop for advice, but felt like they were just trying to sell me their products rather than help me. I know they've got to makes sales, but it's annoying sometimes. I've always been hesitant to go to department store counters because it just seems like anyone can work at those. Salons make you pay, so that's out the window. I know Merle Norman will give you advice, but do you feel pressure to buy something afterwards? If it helps, location-wise, I'm in the Columbus, Dayton, Cincinnati, OH area.
