Why do people follow the Bible?

honestly, religion is something invented for those people too scared to deal with the idea of permanently disappearing from reality. in running from the notion of death, they created heaven, a wonderful imaginary place of happiness to hide from their fears. The fact that people truly believe in God and heaven, especially in this century, is pathetic.
