How do you keep a betta fish alive for a long time.?

hahah ik it sounds irrisspobsable but... i have a heathly vibrant red betta fish and hes fine hes swimming and stuff but i was jsut wondering is there somthing you do to keep them alive longer other than taking care of him like normal. just wondering cause i hate when pets die i have 4 kittens and 1 dog (and yes my parents can afford the vet bills and they are spolied rotton little animals but we love them to pieces!) anywayyyy. fish advise anyone~ lol please dont be rude im just little i ask stupid questions like thiss! heheh have a nice day peopel!
